What is Nutritional Therapy Nutritional therapy combines science with naturopathy in order to return the patient to a state of good health. It's a holistic therapy approach taht combines conventional medicine with complementary therapies and is aimed at addresseing the root cause of the problem rather than only treating the symptoms. Nutritional treatment is used instead of strong pharmaceuticals to restore the body's balance.
Nutritional therapists use treatments in the form of whole foods and specialised supplements to rebalance the body’s system for optimum health. Biochemical tests (urine, saliva, blood and hair samples) may be necessary in order to get to the root of your health problems, as they identify imbalances and dysfunctions in normal physiology. Food influences repair, growth and body functions and can affect energy levels, mood and even personality. As a result of intensified farming and the abundance of processed foods these days, it's difficult to maintain a well balanced diet. Our stressful lifestyles also make it challenging to obtain the desired nutrition from the foods we eat, leading us to feeling run down, exhausted and prone to infections.
Many people now realise the importance of a balanced diet and believe they can achieve it by reasearching online or self medication. While it is a positive thing to become aware of the importance of a healthy dietary lifestyle, they often fail to achieve their goals and return to their old way of life simply because these changes were not sustainable or customised to their specific nutritional needs.
What makes this special at MediClinic MediClinic also recognises your right to 'own' your health, which is why we work with you to develop tailored holistic therapy programmes to meet your specific requirements at one of our clinics in Guildford or Wimbledon. Instead of restrictive "diets" and unrealistic nutritional changes, you are able to incorporate the therapy at your own pace, so that changes in the food you eat are more sustainable in the long term. These changes can make you realise how enjoyable, simple and powerful good nutrition can be.
Zest4Life Zest4life is an exciting new concept in weight management based on a low GL dietary approach. This approach is based on the work of one of Britains's most respected nutritionist - Patrick Holford - and has been designed to provide the highest level of support and personalisation to fill the need for a more intelligent and healthy approach to weight loss and management.
The 12 week programme is run by our professional weight loss coach and nutritionist Magalie Papageorge. We have seen high sucess rates for weight loss, energy improvement, regained vitality and improved health scores and these have all been achieved within the 12 week programme. Zest4life differs from normal weight loss programmes as we provide each participant the opportunity to re-learn how to eat normally and healthily in a way that they can continue for the rest of their lives. The programmes therefore combine nutrition and health education with personal recommendations and dietary advice, coaching, changing behaviours and resolving emotional aspects.
You are welcome to attend one of the weekly seminars for free and see for yourself before joining the programme. These programmes can either be completed in a group environment or on a 1-1 basis.
