Psychological Assessments

Psychological assessments are provided for individuals who have been identified as experiencing occupational and life related stress, particularly in relation to absenteeism, sickness and decreased motivation levels at work.

Following an assessment, a treatment plan is drawn up to support the person in developing coping strategies to return to work . This treatment plan includes a course of short term counseling that is dependant on the presenting problem.

Group Workshops and Talks

In maintaining healthy performance at work, the service offers group workshops and talks related to:

  •  ‘Well Being and the Work/Life Balance'
  • Stress Management
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Individual and couples therapy is offered following a referral from your GP, employer or yourself. Sessions are strictly confidential, however within the limits of any life threats made to yourself or others.

Approaches to counseling are integrative and include the following:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is offered to those individuals diagnosed difficulties such as depression or anxiety. This is a brief therapy that supports you in identifying areas that are triggering challenging thoughts and feelings. The therapy focuses on the immediate problems to support you in developing coping mechanisms to manage you presenting problem.
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy reflects on your childhood and identifies areas that may be hampering progression or creating a sense of being ‘stuck'.
  • Working integratively encourages working in the present, developing coping skills and working through challenging issues and past experiences that are impacting on current functioning.

Personal Development

Many of us reach stages of our lives where we need to reassess our lives, careers and relationships.  This time may be experienced as challenging, stressful or anxiety-provoking and may impact on motivation levels, work attendance and lifestyle in general.

As part of a personal development programme, you will complete a psychological assessment, including a personality profile that identifies your personality type.  The profile highlights talents, skills, potential and personality style.  This particularly relates to the person's preferred style of decision making, learning, being in the world and interacting with others'.

The assessment provides and identifies:

  • positive and constructive ways of developing self awareness
  • understanding and valuing differences between people
  • career recommendations
  • areas of personal development to attain identified goals

The assessments are also used extensively for team building, career guidance, leadership and organisation development.
